Five or six Granny Smith apples

1/2 cup sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

For the crust--

1 cup of flour with 1/2 teaspoon of salt added

3 tablespoons of ice water

1/3 cup shortening

Prepare the crust by mixing together the flour with the shortening, until the dough has a grainy consistency.  Add three tablespoons of ice water.  Stir. Roll out the dough, and place in a pie pan.

To prepare the topping, mix together the flour and sugar with the butter, until the mixture is grainy.

Pour the apples into the prepared crust, cover with topping.  Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes, then at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

Enjoy.
